Years ago, a group of friends were hanging out and playing music at one of our buddies house; making up songs and generally having a good time. He lives out in the "boonies" where bugs, especially chiggers, are abundant. One after another, the songs came to us. There was a mic turned on and plugged into a recorder so, there we were sitting in a circle on his porch playing and singing to all the nocturnal critters that were roaming around. At the end of a song, toward the end of the evening, a typical "big finish" style ending to our last song one friend said, "we'd like to thank you for coming to the show tonight and I'd like to introduce you to the band. Over on the banjo there is Big Daddy Chigger. How about a hand for Big Daddy! And on the dobro over there, that's Sid Chigger. And on the mandolin there is Jericho Chigger, give it up for Jericho. Shakin' that (percussion) egg and playing tamborine is Earl Chigger. And me, I'm Harry Chigger and we thank ya so much, goodnight!" And thus the Chiggers were born!

In listening back to the mono recording of that memorable evening we thought, "you know, we should do this more often; we should record some of these "gems" if for nothing else but our own personal enjoyment." And thus Chigger Tracks was born. That 1st year, 2001 I think, we wrapped a CD's worth of songs around the first of November and Big Daddy, being the scrooge that he is, said, "We should get copies of these made and give them out for Christmas presents!" The rest of us (being the scrooges that we are) agreed. So every year since, our goal is to get a CD done and duplicated to give to family and friends around Christmas time. It sure beats going to the Mall. We always have a few extra CD's made up to sell, too. Check out our Music page when you get a chance!
